Works in this subcategory of Category:Works by language have been categorized as having their text underlay in {}. For pages which contain actual texts in {}, see :Category:{} texts.

Documentation

This template supplies the descriptive text that appears on a "Category:Works in <language>" page and categorizes the page as a subcategory of Category:Works by language with appropriate sort key (which may be adjusted with an optional second parameter).

Syntax, with one (required) paramter:

<language>

which inserts

Works in this subcategory of :Category:Works by language here have been categorized as having their text underlay in <language>. For pages which contain actual texts in <language>, see :Category:<language> texts.

into a file, displayed as:

Works in this subcategory of Category:Works by language here have been categorized as having their text underlay in <language>. For pages which contain actual texts in <language>, see Category:<language> texts.

Syntax, with both parameters:

<language>

which inserts

Works in this subcategory of :Category:Works by language here have been categorized as having their text underlay in <language>. For pages which contain actual texts in <language>, see :Category:<language> texts.

The displayed text is the same as that with only the first parameter, the only difference being that the Category:Works in <language> receives the sort key " <language sort key>". Thus, both

Old English

and

Old English

would display the same text:

Works in this subcategory of Category:Works by language here have been categorized as having their text underlay in Old English. For pages which contain actual texts in Old English, see Category:Old English texts.

But the first form would sort the Category:Works in Old English as a subcategory of Category:Works by language somewhere between "Works in Lowland Scots" and "Works in Nahuatl", while the second form will sort this category right after "Works in English".
