General information

Tantum ergo comprises the last two verses of the Eucharistic hymn Pange lingua by Thomas Aquinas (13th cent.). These two verses are often sung separately from the complete hymn, and were set to music by many composers.

veneremur cernui,
et antiquum documentum
novo cedat ritui;
praestet fides supplementum
sensuum defectui.

Genitori Genitoque
laus et iubilatio,
salus, honor, virtus quoque
sit et benedictio;
procedenti ab utroque
compar sit laudatio.
