These works should given their proper titles. According to the standard books by music scholars on the music of William Billings (Barbour 1960, Kroeger 1990), terms such as

 *Broad Cove
 *Rocky-Nook
 *Variety, without method
 *West-Sudbury

are called Titles. In the reference works cited, the musical works are consistently labeled and referred to by their titles, not by their first lines. The only works titled by their first lines are works not given a unique title, such as Anthem for fast day. There are a number of anthems with titles, e.g., Rutland or Lamentation over Boston. I strongly recommend that we follow Barbour and Kroeger in titling the works of Billings. Respectfully, Barry Johnston

Thanks, Barry. Since the naming of composition pages for Billings' works affects how those composition pages are listed on other pages (e.g. the lyricist pages), which also include the works of other composers, and because this relates to issues of disambiguation of text+tune combinations in page names (a given tune being used with more than one text, or a given text being set to more than one tune by the same composer) which go wider than the works of Billings, I've responded in the discussion forum on the thread on which we previously discussed this subject (here).
