I'm not entirely happy with my own placing of the medieval Stabat Mater after the Speciosa on this page. However, I feel this version does belong here somewhere even though, half way through, it becomes a completely different poem. If anyone can devise a more elegant solution, they have my blessing. --DaveF 07:15, 27 February 2008 (PST)

Another variant

Not sure what to make of this yet, but a 1925 Processional gives this 7-verse version (with the Mainz tune):

Latin.png Latin text

1. Stabat Mater &c…

2. Pro pecatis suae gentis
Vidit Jesus in tormentis
Et flagellis subditum.

3. Vidit suum dulcem natum
Moriendo desolatum
Dum emisit spiritum.

4. Eja mater...
5. Fac ut ardeat...
6. Fac me tecum…
7. Juxta crucem...
