As far as I can tell, though, Roberts has no connection with any of the hymns listed on this page.  Prelimninary review shows no evidence that JVR wrote any hymn texts, and the same review shows a single hymn tune composed by him, "Magdalen College" (not to be confused by an older tune with the same name by William Hayes), in the early 20th Century Methodist Hymn Book With Tunes, published in the UK.  In that book it is associated with the text, "Thou Lord, art a shield for me."
