Description: The general congregation (sometimes divided into men and women) should sing the Air, accompanying harmonies to be taken by the choir. Words by Maria Theresa Stonehouse, before 1742, My Jesus, look on me thy child, in nine stanzas. Milgrove used the third stanza in his composition; in some hymn compilations (e. g., Whitefield 1777) appears the hymn Take my poor heart just as it is, comprising the third, seventh, eighth, and ninth stanzas of Stonehouse's hymn.
