English text
Take heed, ye shepherd swains, beware!
In yonder grove the fair Sirena lies.
O! wake her not, nor venture there:
For Cupid lives within her eyes.
And if she open them on you,
Your hearts will quick be piercèd through.
So cold is she, and yet so fair;
That all who see, do bow the knee;
And worship in despair.
