==General information==
The tune known as ''Surrey'' is by [[Henry Carey]]. It was first published in 1723, in [[John Church]]'s ''An Introduction to Psalmody'', as a setting of [[Joseph Addison]]'s paraphrase of [[Psalm 23]], ''The Lord my pasture shall prepare''. The tune was given the name 'Surrey' in 1790, in [[Edward Miller]]'s ''The Psalms of David''. Other names used for the tune include ''Addison's'', ''Carey's'', ''Yarmouth'' and ''Cumberland''. The tune is listed in the ''Hymn Tune Index'' under tune number 1034 (variants a-h).
