Biography
Stephan Loomer Fish was born in Palmyra, Wisconsin. [Some records have spelling variants “Stephen” and/or “Lohmer” Fish]. He spent a number of years associated with Horatio Richmond Palmer, holding music conventions throughout Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin. During last part of his career he taught voice culture, singing and chorus work at Illinois Wesleyan University and was director of the First Presbyterian choir in Bloomington, Illinois. He was also conductor of the Peoria Choral Union. He died in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He composed many anthems and part songs, most of them for convention and educational use.
