Original text and translations

1. Napadly písně (Melodies fell into my soul)

Czech.png Czech text

Napadly písně v duši mou,
nezavolány, z nenadání,
jako když rosy napadá,
po stéblokadeřavé stráni.

Kol se to mihá perlami,
i cítím dech tak mladý, zdravý,
že nevím, zda jsou radost má,
či pláč mé duše usedavý.

Však rosu luna zrodila,
a není písním v duší stání:

2. Večerní les rozvázal zvonky (Ev’ning bells ring)

Czech.png Czech text

Večerní les rozvázal zvonky,
a ptáci zvoní k tiché skrejši,
kukačka zvoní na ty větší,
a slavík na ty líbeznějsí.

Les každou větev písní kropí
a každý lístek jeho dítě,
na nebes strop jim lampu věší
a stříbrné z ní táhne nítě.

A každá nit na konci spánek,
sny jako jiskry v stromech skáčí
jen laňka se sebe je střásá
a před lesem se vrose máčí.

Ted’ usnuli i zvoníkové,
les dýchá v prvním zadřímnutí,
a jestli slavík zaklokotá,
to ze spánku je prokouknutí.

Ted’ všecko spí, i laňka dřímá,
i zvonky visí dovybdělé,
noc kráčí jako všeho dozvuk,
tak příroda si k spánku stele.

Hörst du des Haines Abendgeläute,
der Vöglein Sang schon leis’ verklingend,
des fernen Kuckuck neckend’ Rufen,
die Nachtigall, von Liebe zart singend.

Ein sanfter Wind durchrauschet die Zweige,
betaut von feuchtem Perlenkranze,
rings prangt der Wald vom Mondensilber
umwebt mit tausendfachem Glanze.

Bald träumen Halme, träumen Blumen,
in Baumeswipfeln hangen Träume,
nur Rehlein wacht noch, daß im Taue
es Bad und Nachttrunk nicht versäume.

Dann schlummert’s auch, die Vöglein schlummern,
Nachtigall läßt allein nur sich hören,
ihr Liebesliedchen, ihr sanftes Flöten
kann Schläfer nicht, noch Träumer aufwecken.

Drauf schweigt auch sie. Nun ruhen alle,
und Nacht bedeckt mit dunklem Schleier
den Hain und drinnen jeglich’ Leben.
Das ist des Waldes Abendfeier.

3. Žitné pole (Summer song)

Czech.png Czech text

Žitné pole, žitné pole,
jak to zraje vesele!
Každý klásek muzikantem,
klasu jak když nastele,

Hedbávným to šatem šustí
větřík v skočnou zadupe,
slunce objímá a líbá,
jen to v stéblu zalupe.

Za motýlkem včelka šeptem,
zda kdo v chrpě nevěsí,
a ten cvrček posměváček
s křepeličkou pod mezí.

Žitné pole, žitné pole,
jak to zraje vesele!
Každý klásek muzikantem
klasu jak když nastele.

English.png English text

Golden hillsides, golden meadows,
what a pleasant sight to see.
Ev’ry creature joins his fellows
in a joyful melody.

Summer breezes gentle breezes blow.
Summer breezes to and fro.
Ev’ry stalk is a golden store of goodness
Ready now to reap and mow.

See the humming bees whirl after
gladly coloured butterflies.
And the cricket’s chirping laughter
fills the azure summer skies.

Golden hillsides, golden valleys,
what a pleasant sight to see.
Lift your voices to greet the summer
morning, sing and dance so merrily.

German.png German translation

Gold’ne Fluren, gold’ne Ähren,
hei, wie lustig reifen sie!
Halme, sanft im Winde schaukelnd,
spielen auf als Musici.

Schwanken säuselnd auf und nieder,
flüstern, kosen nachbarlich,
heiß berührt vom Sonnenkusse
bebt die Ähre wonniglich.

Bienlein dorten summt dem Falter
scherzend neue Kunde zu;
auch die Wachtel und die Grille
geben neckend keine Ruh.

Gold’ne Fluren, gold’ne Ähren,
lieblich prangend weit und breit.
Freudetrunken lacht die Erde,
wär doch Sommer allezeit.

4. Vyběhla bříza běličká (Out of the woods)

Czech.png Czech text

Vyběhla břiza běličká
jak ze stáda ta kozička,
vyběhla z lesa na pokraj;
že prý už táhne jara báj.

Vyběhla jako panenka,
tak hebká a tak do tenka,
že až to lesem projelo,
a vše se touhou zachvělo.

A táhne šumem jara báj,
vzduch jak na housle, na šalmaj,
vzduch samá vůně, vzduch samý květ
a mladý úsměv celý svět.

Hned každý strom zelený šat
svátečně jsme se oblíkat,
a každá haluz, každá sněť
chce novou řečí rozprávět.

A jak by k hodům zavolal,
přilítli hosté zblíž i dál,
a za den, za dva širý kraj,
a celý svět byl jara báj.

Birke am grünen Bergeshang,
gleich wie die Geis der Herd’ entsprang,
kamst du nach schwerem Winterstraum
munter hervor zum Waldessaum.

Birklein, im weißen Flügelkleid,
schlank wie die jugendzarte Maid,
voll süßer Ahnung. Alles lauscht
der Kunde, die dein Laub durchrauscht.

Welch’ frohe Botschaft mag das sein,
Tönend wie Geigen und Schalmei’n,
wehend aus sanftbewegter Luft
und rings umher aus Blütenduft?

Schon stehen prangend Baum und Strauch,
geschmückt zum Fest nach alten Brauch,
und jedes Zweiglein, jedes Reis
will singen nun des Schöpfers Preis.

Viel’ Gäste fanden auch sich ein,
manch’ Lied durchhallt den weiten Hain,
und eh’ zwei Tage noch vorbei,
grüßt alle Welt den schönen Mai.

5. Dnes do skoku a do písničky (Come, let us dance and sing together)

Czech.png Czech text

Dnes do skoku a do písničky!
Dnes pravá veselka je boží,
dnes celý svět a všecko v párku
se vedou k svatebnímu loži.

Ve zvonku květném mušky tančí,
pod travou brouček křídla zvedá
a vody šumí, lesy voní
a kdo je nemá, srdce hledá.

Na nebi zapalují svíce,
na západě panenskě rdění
a slavík již to ohlašuje,
ten velkněz, u velebném znění.

Dnes velká kniha poesie
až dokořán je otevřena
dnes každá struna všeho míru
na žert i pravdu natažena.

A nebe skví se, vzduch se chvěje,
dnes jedna píseň světem letí,
dnes zem a nebe jeden pohár,

rings Jubelton, rings Freude winken;
zum großen Kelch ward Erd’ und Himmel,
draus, was da lebt, soll Wonne trinken.
