Italian.png Italian text

Signor, cui fu già poco
Formar i cieli e insieme
Spiegar l’aria, la terra, il mar, il foco:
L’alma che plora e geme
Ne le sue angoscie estreme
Piaciti ancor gradire
E pietoso risguarda al mio fallire.

Vergine ancella, nel cui santo chiostro
Scese dal ciel per humanarsi Dio
Solo per amor nostro,
Deh porgi aita all’ardente desio
Che trasformi in Giesù questo cor mio.

German.png German translation

Herr, dem es schon ein Geringes war,
die Himmel zu bilden und zusammen
auszubreiten Luft, Erde, Wasser und Feuer:
die Seele, die weint und klagt
in ihrer extremen Betrübnis,
anzunehmen sei dir genehm,
und mitleidsvoll betrachte meine Vergehen.

Jungfräuliche Magd, in deren heiligem Schoß
hinabstieg vom Himmel Gott, um Mensch zu werden,
nur aus Liebe zu uns,
ach, biete Hilfe dem brennenden Wunsch,
dass ich zu Jesus wende mein Herz.

Translation by Gerhard Weydt
English.png English translation

My Lord, to whom it already was little
to build the heavens and together
spread air, earth, water and fire:
the soul, that weeps and moans
in her extreme grief,
you may willingly accept,
and pitifully look at my failures.

Virgin maid, in whose sainted womb
God descended from heaven to become human
only for the love of us,
oh offer help to the burning desire,
that I might turn my heart to Jesus.

Translation by Gerhard Weydt
