Signor, che già te stesso
In cibo a l’alme desti,
A bei pensier celesti,
Perdonami s’indegno
Mi mostro a sì bel don, a si alto pegno.

Vergine gloriosa e lieta, o quanto
Allegro è fatto il tuo doglioso stato:
Giorno felice e santo,
Quando risorse il tuo figliol’ amato!
Deh fa ch’anch’io risorga dal peccato.

Lord, you who gave yourself
as food to the souls,
for to give a clearer sign of your love
and to make us more awake
to precious heavenly thoughts,
pardon me if unworthy
I show myself of such fine gift, of such sublime pledge.

Glorious and joyful virgin, o how
merry was made your dolorous state:
happy and holy day,
when your beloved son was resurrected!
Oh, make me arise from sin, too.
