Si l'on doit prendre un bienfait pour une offense,
j'ai mérité une grande punition.
Mais si la vertu mérite récompense,
mon affection vaut mon salaire.
Qui ne veut jamais devoir affection
en étant éloigné de sa dame sans cause.
Si telle la loi m'est réservé,
je serai mal pour être mieux traité.
Car puisque du bienfait je n'ai que blâme,
du mal viendra le bien que je mérite.
