    Manuscript c.1448 'Modena B'
First published: 1937 in Das Chorwerk, no. 49.16
Description: Hymn for first Vespers of St. Francis; verses 2, 4, and 6 of the text attributed to Gregory IX are underlaid. Though attributed to Dufay in the sole source, R. Gerber (Das Chorwerk 49,1937) considered the authorship uncertain and the tenor part faulty in the 3rd quarter, where his transcription disastrously fails to take coloration into account. Bessler (CMM 1.5, 1966) made a few emendations and based underlay (top part only) on the paraphrased chant. A late date (after 1450) is suggested by the white notation as well as the ms. ordering.
