Life

Born: fl. c. 1445 - c. 1462

Died:

BiographyLittle is known of Domarto's life, although music theorist and composer Johannes Tinctoris described Domarto, along with composer Jean Cousin, as "non parvae auctoritatis" (of no small authority). Tinctoris is said to have singled out Dmoarto as his "whipping boy" for errors Domarto committed in the 1450s that may have influenced other composers decades after, such as Antoine Busnois, Johannes Ockeghem and Johannes Regis. He wrote one of the earliest unified mass cycles in continental Europe
