In space, no-one can hear you quack.
It is, therefore, a silent small explosion
of flesh and feathers, bones and bill
which marks the decompressive demise
of a duck.

Great in Aylesbury was the mourning,
and loud the lament from Thame pond;
for she was transported
faster even than a Mallard;
boldly she went where no duck has gone before.
Alas, her anatidine frame
was not evolved for such circumstances,
and so
she died the doughtiest death a duck may die:
a nobler fate by far
than number 17 with egg fried rice.
