O so èra un aciluciu
E pudè stende lu volu,
Eju mi nè vuli' andane,
A truva lu mio tisoru,
Per falli la cumpagnia
Quand' ellu si trova solu.

Cume me nun si ne trova
Ne'in cantone, ne'in cumuna,
Per girane la Ballagna,
Nun si ne trova m'ancuna
Cusi sola e scunsulata
E priva d'ogni furtuna?

French.png French translation

Si j'étais petit oiseau
Et pouvais prendre mon vol,
Je voudrais m'en aller vite
Tout au-près de mon trésor,
Pour lui tenir compagnie
Quand il se trouve seul.

Y a-t-il une malheureuse
Comme moi, dans le village
Ou dans toute la Balagne?
Comme moi y en a-t-il une,
Aussi triste et aussi seule,
Et sans aucune fortune?
