O hilf, Christe, Gottes Sohn,
durch dein bitter Leiden,
daß wir, dir stets untertan,
Sünd und Unrecht meiden,
deinen Tod und sein Ursach
fruchtbar nun bedenken,
dafür, obwohl arm und schwach,
dir Dankopfer schenken.

English translation

Help us, O Christ, thou Son of God
through thy bitter passion
Seeing thy humility
May we shun transgression.
Knowing how thou cam'st to die
may we learn to suffer.
May we now, though poor and weak,
prayer and praises offer.
