O felix templum jubila
et chors tua canonici
nunc plaudat corde supplici.
Tu, clere, viso rutila.

Qui presul divi muneris
de summo missus cardine
a justo nato Dardane
est pastor sacri oneris.

Tu genitoris Stephane,
o plaustriger illustrissime,
virtutes splendidissime
sunt tuis factis consone:

Fano novo et multis aris
superis quas dedicasti
ad astra iter iam parasti
tibi et cuncti tui laris.

Precor, Patre, o digna proles,
Justa, mitis et modesta.
Viciorum ac infiesta
Virtutibusque redolans.

Dignare me Ciconiam
(tanti licet sim indignus)
Tui habere in cordis pignus
Es benignus quoniam.
Amen.

English translation

O blessed church rejoice,
and let the retinue of canons
now give praise with supplicant hearts.
O clergy, may your face glow to see it.

This man, a bishop given by heaven,
sent by the highest cornerstone,
born of the line of just Aeneas,
is pastor of the divine office.

You, o Stefano,
bearing your father’s illustrious name,
your shining virtues
are matched by your actions.

Thanks to the new church and the many altars
you have dedicated to your saints,
you have prepared the way to heaven
for you and for all your family.

I pray, worthy child of your father,
just, humble and modest,
an enemy of vice,
and full of virtues,

Deign to receive me, Ciconia,
(although I am unworthy)
as a sign in your heart,
for you are gracious.
