English text 1  O Lord, the maker of all thing, We pray thee now in this evening Us to defend through thy mercy From all deceit of our enemy. 2  Let neither us deluded be, Good Lord, with dream or fantasy; Our hearts waking in thee thou keep That we in sin fall not on sleep. 3  O Father, through thy blessed Son, Grant us this our petition, To whom, with the Holy Ghost always, In heaven and earth be laud and praise.

German translation O Gott, Schöpfer aller Dinge, wir bitten dich nun an diesem Abend uns zu schützen, aufgrund deiner Gnade, vor aller Hinterlist unseres Feindes. Lass uns auch nicht verblendet sein, guter Gott, mit Träumen oder Fantasie. Unsere Herzen bleiben wach in dir, der uns hältst, damit wir nicht im Schlaf in die Sünde fallen. O Vater, durch deinen heiligen Sohn, gewähre uns unsere Bitte, ihm und dem Heiligen Geist sei immer im Himmel und auf Erden Lob und Preis.
