Italian text Mostrava in ciel l’alba di gigli e rose Coronat’il bel crin quando s’unio La mia bocca la bocca del ben mio; Restai priv’al’hor di vita, Meschino me! Quando senti doppiarsi la ferita O sventurato me! Spuntavan fuor da l’oceano i raggi Lucidissim’il sol quando s’udio Ragionarmi pian pian cosi il cor mio; Fa contento le tue voglie, Beato te, Che del servir il frutto al fin si coglie O fortunato te!

English translation The Dawn was appearing in the sky with her head crowned with roses and lilies when they met. My mouth has the mouth of my beloved so I was without life: Alas me! When I felt my wound doubling Unlucky me! The Sun was rising with his radiant rays from the ocean when it was heard. My heart said to me softly "enjoy your desires: be happy!". that you enjoy like the fruit of your service Happy you. Translation by Andrea Friggi
