Biography:

Writing in the 1270's, the English scribe known as Anonymous IV credits Magister Leoninus with founding the School of Notre-Dame and composing the bulk of a Magnum Liber, a 'great book' whose repertory can now be reconstructed from 4 surviving collections. He is now identified with the Magister Leonius presbyter active from 1163 and who appears to have died in 1201.
