La dipartita è amara;
Ma perché è dolc’e cara
La giunta del ritorno,
da l’infelice giorno
De la partenza ria
Nasce la gioia mia.

German.png German translation

Der Abschied ist bitter;
aber da süß und lieb ist
die Ankunft bei der Rückkehr,
so erwächst aus dem unglücklichen Tag
meiner traurigen Abreise
meine Freude.

Translation by Gerhard Weydt
English.png English translation

The parting is bitter;
but as sweet and dear is
the arrival at returning,
hence out of the unfortunate day
of my miserable departure
arises my joy.
