Died: 13 Aug 1912, Paris

Biography

A student of Ambroise Thomas, Massenet began a long career as an opera composer with La grand’ tante (1867). Other vocal works include mélodies (over 200), oratorios (Marie-Magdeleine, 1873, Eve, 1875, La vierge, 1880, La terre promise, 1900), motets, incidental and chamber music.
