Life
Baptized: 25 March 1699
Died: 16 December 1783
Biography: Born 1699 in Bergedorf, sang at Hamburg Opera as tenor 1707-11 and at Brunswich 1711-21. Studied composition in Neaples for N.Porpora an A.Scarlatti in 1724. Married singer Faustina Bordoni. Director of Dresden Court opera from 1731. Moved to Viena 1763 and lived in Venice from 1775. Wrote over 100 operas in Italian style but also composed masses, oratorios and sinfonias. died 1783 in Venice.
