Biography

Jean de Brébeuf became a Jesuit in 1617, and in 1625 founded a mission at Ihonatiria on Georgian Bay, Lake Huron, in Ontario, Canada. Despite fierce opposition from some aboriginals, he continued to preach, and made a number of aboriginal converts. Martyred in what is now Ontario in 1649.
