Janitor coeli,
Doctor orbis pariter,
judices saecli,
vera mundi lumina,
per Crucem alter,
alter ense triumphans,
vitae senatum laureati possident.

Doorkeeper of heaven,
And teacher of the world,
Judges of the age,
True light of the world,
The one through his cross,
The other by his triumphant sword,
Possess the crown of life.

Der Türwächter des Himmels (Petrus),
sowie der Lehrer des Erdkreises (Paulus):
Rechtsprecher dieser Zeit (sind sie),
wahre Lichter der Welt.
Durch das Kreuz hat der eine,
der andere durch das Schwert triumphiert,
den Rat des Lebens besetzen sie als Lorbeer-Bekränzte.
(Nach der Legende starb Petrus auf einem umgedrehten Kreuz
und Paulus durch Enthauptung mit dem Schwert als Märtyrer unter Kaiser Nero)
