Hor veggio chiar che ricoperte alquanto,
E non gia tutte spente furon mai,
le faville del foco, ch'io pensai,
Che fosse spento e me ne diedi vanto,
Anzi mi par ch'ogn'hor'e in ogni canto,
Del mio cor lasso crescano li guai,
E'l grave duol si che conviemm'homai,
Star sempr'in doglia e in amaro pianto.
Ne lo star ne'l fuggir ne'l mutar loco,
Ralentan punto la mia grave pena,
Che l'un mi sface e l'altro non m'aita,
Ond'io non spero che questa catena,
Mai piu si sciolga si ch'a poco a poco,
Convien ch'io manch'e resti senza vita.
