1. Homo, Dei creatura, cur in carne moritura,
est tam parva tibi cura pro æterna gloria.
2. Illa quanta sit, si scires, præter eam nil sitires.
Nec mundana sic ambires vana transitoria.
3. Et si pœnas infernales agnovisses
quæ et quales tuos utique carnales appetitur frangeres.
4. Et in numera peccata dicta facta cogitata.
   Mente tota consternata merito deplangeres.
5. Non vivamus ut jumenta ne post mortem ad tormenta
   veniamus et lamenta intolerabilia.
6. Modo veniam precemur mortem Christi meditemur.
   Ad superna præparemur desiderabilia.
7. Ecce mundus evanescit decor ejus jam marcescit
et quotidie vilescit fallax ejus gloria.
8. Quæ demergit ad inferna, ergo gloria superna.
Vita nobis sempiterna jugis sit memoria.
9. Ut defuncti sublevemur cum cœlestibus lætemur
et in Deo gloriemur summen delectabili.
10. Qui solus glorificandus et amandus
et optandus laudeque magnificandus est interminabili.
    Amen.

Dominikus von Preußen (1382-1461) was a Carthusian monk and ascetical writer.
