German text Gut Singer und ein Organist/  gehören wol zusamen/  zuvor auß wo man frölich ist/  und trinckt in Gottes namen/  on neid und haß/  ein zimlichs glas/  das macht die Claves greiffen,  das macht die Claves greiffen/  dann wie man spricht/  wo wein gebricht/  laut selten die Sackpfeifen.  Ein furmann der fortkommen wil/  muß schmiren seinen wagen/  also ein Singer taugt nit vil/  er wasch dann seinen kragen/  mit guten wein/  darumb schenck ein/  den edlen safft von reben/  ich hoff zu Gott/  er werd zur not/  auffs Jar ein bessern geben.

English translation Good Singer and an organist/   belong together/   where you are happy/   and trincks in God's name/   without envy and hate/   a timely glass/   that makes take to the keys/   As they say/   where wine is broken /   rarely the bagpipes sound.   A furman who wil go forth/   must grease his wagon/   So a singer though not in exsess/   must wash his collar /   with good wine /   so pour in   the noble juice of grapes/   I hope to God/   there will be no famine   and he will give a better year.
