Gabriel angelus¹ apparuit Zachariae, dicens:
Nascetur tibi filius, nomen ejus Joannes vocabitur²:
Et multi in nativitate ejus gaudebunt.
Erit enim magnus coram Domino.
Vinum et siceram non bibet,
Et multi in nativitate ejus gaudebunt.

1. Werrecoren has "archangelus" for "angelus".
2. Latfeur has "vocabis" for "vocabitur".

German translation

Der Engel Gabriel erschien Zacharias, wobei er sagte:
Dir wird ein Sohn geboren werden, dessen Name wird Johannes genannt werden:
Und viele werden sich über seine Geburt freuen.

English translation

The angel Gabriel appeared to Zachariah, saying:
A son shall be born to you, his name shall be called John:
And many shall rejoice at his birth.
For he will be great in the sight of the Lord.
Wine and strong drink he will not use,
And many shall rejoice at his birth.

Dutch translation

De engel Gabriel verscheen aan Zacharias en zei:
je zult een zoon krijgen, en hem Johannes noemen,
en velen zullen zich over zijn geboorte verheugen.
Hij zal groot zijn in de ogen van de Heer,
en wijn en andere gegiste dranken zal hij niet drinken.
