Filli vezzosa e lieta
Hor guarda, hor geme, hor tace,
Ma poi vermiglia e queta,
Al fin si stilla e sface
E mesta & mort‘in vista
Beata vita eternamente acquista.

German translation

Die hübsche und fröhliche Phillis,
mal schaut, mal seufzt, mal schweigt sie,
doch dann errötet sie und beruhigt sich,
endlich weint und erbleicht sie,
und traurig und bleich im Gesicht
erlangt sie auf ewig das selige Leben.

English translation

Pretty and joyful Phillis
now looks, now sighs and now falls silent,
but then reddens and calms down,
finally she weeps and turns pale,
and mournful and pallid in her face
she attains blissful life eternally.
