Latin.png Latin text

Fausta dies roseo terras fulgore serenat
laetitiisque fovet pectora novis,
edit nam virgo prolem castissima mundo,
quae vere portat diva salutis opem.

Auspiciis Deus approperat melioribus
atque foedera nobiscum prosperiora facit,
sollicitos recreat ceu nata propago fideles
sic contra exhilarat prole virago virum.

Translation by Gerhard Weydt

Benedictory day, that by rosy refulgence exhilarates the earth
and by new joys warms the hearts,
for the chaste virgin bore to the world the offspring,
she that verily bore the divine power of salvation.

Better prospects God provides,
and with us concludes beneficial treaties,
like the new born child revitalises the anxious believers,
so on the other hand the virgin cheers up man by the child.
