Life

Born: 12 November 1980

Biography: Evert van Merode studied piano with Joop Celis and Bart van de Roer at the Brabant Conservatory in Tilburg. At the same time he studied Language and Culture Studies (Tilburg University). Evert works as piano teacher and accompanist and is conductor of various choirs. He took private lessons with the dutch composer Willlem Jeths. He mainly composes chamber music and works for choir. His composition “Tableau de Guerre” for string-quartet and percussion won a special price during the Eindhoven Tromp Composition Contest in 2008. With composer Arjan van Baest he founded Stichting Muziek Nu, a platform for the development and performance of new music.
