Latin text
Dum surgit tumulo patris proles ætherei,
tres hilares canunt hoc illi melos Angeli,
applaudente sacro coelituum choro
gesti nunc age gaudio,
gens humana tuæ reddita Patriæ,
dum princeps tuus emicat,
devictis Erebi clarior incolis.
Et tu flammivomæ stygis
Rector terribilis moestitia infreme,
dum collum Dominus tuum
calcat Tartareo fortior agmine.
O mors vipereo minas rictu terrificas
jugiter evomens,
fractis missilibus tuis,
exarmata animos abjicito feros.
Coelorum euge penatibus.
Acclamemus jô
plaudite claris vocibus & sonis,
nunc mors nunc Erebus nunc periit Sathan.
O lux aurea,
quanta das humano generi gaudia,
dum fores coelorum referas pijs.
O lux candida,
quam magna adimis stygis Rectori spolia,
Igneo demersas animas dum trahis ex lacu.
O lux gratior hæc erit,
qua coleum repetet flammiferum
potens victor mortis & inferum,
omnes hanc hilares coelituum chori exorate,
pia prece.
Exoptate modis dulce sonantibus,
faxis pneuma sacrum,
suo ne dux hic misero sit procul a grege,
faxis pneuma sacrum,
suo grex ut pro Domino non renuat mori.
Styx comburat apostatas.
Hic grex vivat jô pastor & illius.
Omnis vox iteret preces:
hic grex vincat jô pastor & illius,
Iovam laudet jô polus
laudet jô mare
& laudent homines
Omnis dicat Amen chorus,
coelo fortis eat clangor,
Amen Amen.

English translation
As the son of the heavenly father rises from the tomb,
three joyful angels sing this song to him,
lauding the celestial one in a holy choir.
Now rejoice, humankind,
as your heritage has been restored to you
by your noble prince's leaping forth,
conquering the denizens of Hell.
And you, master of the fearsome, flame-vomiting Styx,
moan in sorrow, as the Lord, who is stronger,
crushes your neck together with the hosts of Hell.
Oh death, continually uttering horrifying threats
with a viper's aspect,
now that your weapons are broken you are disarmed,
relinquish the savage souls.
Praise be to the heavenly hosts.
Let us cry 'Halleluya'.
Cry out in praise with loud voices and music,
now that death, Hell and Satan have perished.
Golden light,
what joy you brought to humankind
when you opened the gates of Heaven to the righteous.
White light,
what great spoils you carried off from the master of Hell
when you rescued from the pit the souls in flames.
Light more pleasing this will be
which reclaims the flaming booty -
mighty victor over death and the infernal regions,
all joyful choirs, direct your fervent prayers to Heaven,
express your longings sweetly in sound.
Holy Spirit, let the leader not remain aloof
from this, his crowd of wretches,
Holy Spirit, let the mass of people not be reluctant to die for their Lord.
May the Styx consume the apostate.
May this throng live and rejoice, and the shepherd and those who are his.
Let every voice repeat prayers:
May this throng live and rejoice, and the shepherd and those who are his,
May the ends of the earth praise God,
may the sea praise Him
and may people praise Him,
let all creatures say Amen in unison,
let the great clamour go up to Heaven,
Amen, Amen.
