Editor: Jason Smart (submitted 2014-03-07).   Score information: A4, 12 pages, 227 kB   Copyright: Personal
Edition notes: Edited from the surviving early manuscripts. Transposed down a tone for SSAATB. Note values halved. Missing tenor part reconstructed by the editor.

Comment: the reconstructed tenor part in Jason Smart's edition is, without acknowledgement, heavily based on mine, which has been posted on cpdl for years. Mick Swithinbank (talk) 08:08, 7 March 2014 (UTC)Mick Swithinbank

Comment: It would have been sensible for Mr Swithinbank to contact me privately before posting the above comment. Although my score has been newly typeset and thus has a 2014 copyright date my edition (and the reconstructed tenor) actually dates from the early 1970s, long before I had ever heard of Mick Swithinbank (and this goes for all the editions I have been posting). I can assure him that my reconstructed part is not based on his and I am perfectly capable of writing such parts without reference to others. I have little doubt that there are also similarities to Paul Doe's reconstruction for the EECM series - I have not checked. One should bear in mind that there are very likely to be limited options if one is reconstructing a part such as this and has a suitable sense of style.

Latin.png Latin text

Domine, quis habitabit in tabernaculo tuo
aut quis requiescet in monte sancto tuo?
Qui ingreditur sine macula:
et operatur justiciam.
Qui loquitur veritatem in corde suo:
qui non egit dolum in lingua sua.
Nec fecit proximo suo malum:
et opprobrium non accepit adversus proximos suos.

Lord, who may dwell in your sanctuary?
Who may live on your holy hill?
He whose walk is blameless
and who does what is righteous,
who speaks the truth from his heart
and has no slander on his tongue,
who does his neighbour no wrong
and casts no slur on his fellowman.
