German text Dat du min Leevsten büst, dat du wull weeßt; kumm bi de Nacht, kumm bi de Nacht, sech, wo du heest. Kumm du um Middernacht, kumm du Klock een; Vader slöpt, Moder slöpt, ick slaap alleen. Klopp an de Kammerdör, fat an de Klink; Vader meent, Moder meent, dat deit de Wind.

English translation You are the man I dream of, as well you know; come to me at night, whisper your name. Come to me at midnight, come to me at one; father and mother will not stir; I sleep alone. Knock at my bedroom door, lift the latch; if father or mother hears, they will think: ‘it’s just the wind’.
