Dal mio bel lauro Amore,
Ne trasse l'esca e'l foco,
Con questa prese e con quel m'arse il core;
Et indi à poco à poco,
Seccossi il lauro, ed io,
Tardi m'avedo, ch'ei non è più mio.
Ahi cieco e ingiusto Amore;
Il farmi tuo prigion fu nulla ò poco,
Et c'ardesse il mio core,
Nel tuo perpetuo foco.
Ma ch'io veda il bel lauro;
Che mi fu ombra e ristauro,
Seccarsi à me, e per gli altri fiorire,
Questo è quel duol, ch'io non posso soffrire.
