Chantres un iour se mettent sur les champs,
  Et arriuez au patron du village,
  Ou lon n'hauoit oncq ouy leur doulx chant,
  Vont à la messe ou de chanter font rage
  Kyrie, Kyrie en musical langage.
  Le prestre lors qui la messe disoit,
  Fut estonné, et vrayement pensoit,
  Qu'il fut besoign ainsi Gloria di re,
  Dont gringotant, haultement le poulsoit.
  Oncq on ne veit, un si gentil messire.

English translation

Singers one day went in to the fields,
  And came upon the patron of the village who said:
  Never have we heard such sweet singing.
  Go to the mass and sing fervently,
  Kyrie, Kyrie in musical language.
  The priest saying mass
  Was surprised, and thought,
  I need to say Glory to Thee Oh King
  Smiling broadly and joyfully,
  praising Thee, Gentle Lord.
