General Information

Title: Cent mille regretz
Composer: Anonymous

Number of voices: 7vv   Voicing: SAATTTB

Genre: SecularMotet

Language: French
Instruments: Wind ensemble

Published: 1560

Description: Transcribed from the Royal Danish Library manuscript KB 1872. The notes' values, accidentals and colourings are as in the manuscript. All the voices have only the text incipit, the full text underlay is editorial. The non-canonic voice (Altus) with an exceptionally wide range has to be performed with a sackbut, however as the manuscript was intended for the use of the Royal Danish Band, all the other voices can be played on loud wind instruments. The notes' values within the "ligaturæ" are as semibreves. The “musica ficta” suggestions are in the MIDI and MusicXML files.

Cent mille regretz me poursuivent sans cesse
Deuil me conduict et plaisir me delaisse
Et fortune si tres mal me promene
Que ma languer vault pis que mort soudaine
Puisq'il est force qu'ainsi je vous delaisse
