A subcategory of sheet music consisting of works which have been composed or performed either for religious use or through religious influence. The other main category of choral music is Secular music. There is much gray area between these two broad categories of music. Furthermore, the subcategories of Sacred music (listed below) frequently overlap. For example, "Jesu, meine Freude" is the text of a Chorale (from the German "Choral" which means nothing more than "hymn"), hence also a Hymn, and subsequently a Bach Motet.
