The Offertorio or offertory antiphon is sung during the procession of gifts to the altar during Mass. In addition to texts proper to the day, the Viennese classical composers wrote many general purpose offertoria. Palestrina's Offertoria totius anni of 1593 contains 68 offertories for the whole year set for 5 parts.
