German translation Guten Tag, diese ganze feine Gesellschaft, wir sind gekommen aus Padua, aus Padua, um zu singen. Wir sagen euch die Wahrheit wir sind vier Hampelmänner, oh, vom Dorf auf die Straße, o tandarara… Wir sind gekommen, nur um euch zu ehren, Herren und Damen, und um euch zu bitten, diese werte Gesellschaft, dass jeder in Ruhe bleibe, mit Freude zuhöre oh, die ganze Gesellschaft. Der Text ist in der 4. Zeile korrupt, für die Übersetzung und die Edition wurde der entsprechende Text von Alvise Castellinos gleichnamigem und inhaltlich ähnlichem Werk aus dem Primo Libro (Venedig 1541) verwendet: „A ve dirun il vero“. Die letzte Silbe der jeweils ersten Zeilen fehlt im Druck. Translation by Gerhard Weydt

English translation Good day to all this finne company, we have come from Padua, from Padua to sing. We tell you the truth, we are four jumping jacks, oh, from the village to the street., o tandarara… We have come her only to honour you, gentlemen and ladies, and to be you, this fine company, that every on may rest in peace, listen with pleasure, oh, the whole company. The text in the fourth line is corrupt, for the edition and the translation the equi- valent text from the song with the same title (and similar content) from Alvise Castellino’s Primo Libro (Venice 1541) was used: “ A ve dirun il vero”. The last syllable of each of the first lines was missing in the original print. Translation by Gerhard Weydt

The missing text underlay for the first line suggests another interpretation: "briga" means trouble, quarrel,... Applying this to the second stanza yields "Nui sian venuti solo per honorar[io]" = "we have come only for the money", and "Nui sian venuti solo per ho" = "...però" = "we've come only for that" in bars 15 and 16. This is not really convincing, so it's left to discussion.
