Text and translations

Latin.png Latin text Ave Maria, gratia plena,
Dominus tecum;
benedicta tu in mulieribus,
et benedictus fructus ventris tui.
Amen.

English.png English translation Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee;
blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
Amen.

N.B. Parsons' setting utilises the shorter version of the text that was prevalent prior to the additional words (Sancta Maria etc./Holy Mary etc.) appended by St Petrus Canisius in the catechism instigated by the Council of Trent in 1566.
