Biography
Anselm Kersten was born in Auckland, New Zealand and obtained Bachelors and Masters degrees in musicology at Auckland University. He was deputy conductor of Auckland Choral Society and the choir of Holy Trinity Cathedral before moving to the UK in 1997. In that year he became Musical Director of Market Harborough Choral Society, a post he still holds. In that capacity he has conducted Handel's Messiah twice, including one performance recreating the original manuscript of 1741, as well other major choral classics including CPE Bach's Magnificat, JS Bach's B Minor Mass, Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle and Puccini's youthful Messa di Gloria.
