sovra l'umana usanza
la bella anima vostra alberga e chiude
ch'ogni pensier avanza.
Dunque Susanna, ben felice è il core
ch'arde del vostro amore.

Wholesome Susanna, happy is the heart
That burns with your love,
So sweet is the gaze of your beautiful bright eyes,
So wise are your words,
And so gentle is your graceful laugh
That it can hush the winds,
Stop the rivers and the sun
And show us what paradise there is on earth.
Yet aside from such beauty, so much virtue –
Beyond human standards –
Harbors and encloses your beautiful soul
That it quickens all inspiration.
Therefore Susanna, happy is the heart
That burns with your love.
