Original text and translations
English text
A poor soul sat under a sycamore tree;
She turn'd up her eyes in the grief of her heart,
Lamenting to Roger his base treachery.
Her bumpkin stood by her and well play'd his part.
He labour'd to prove her as fickle as he;
He put it home to her with wond'rous art.
