English text
A catch that is merry and gay,
when voices are rightly in tune,
will clear up the most gloomy day,
and turn a November to June,
Come then my good friends let us try,
to banish all sorrow and care,
let no man complain he's a dry,
when the bottle and glass are so near,
Since music and wine thus agree,
leave riches to Clive the Nabob,
we're richer and happier than he,
who thus in a catch bear a bob.
