A footnote reads "In a note appended to the manuscript preserved in the Chapel Royal Choir Books, it is stated that this Sanctus was 'Given by the late Dr. Boyce to J. Stafford Smith, and by him for the use of the Chapel Royal.' It was probably written to complete the Service in A."
