Vidi aquam

Vidi aquam is the antiphon for the sprinkling of water at the beginning of Mass during Eastertide; it replaces Asperges me Domine. It consists of an antiphon, a Psalm verse and the Doxology. The text of the antiphon is drawn from the vision of the Temple in Ezechiel 47. The Psalm excerpt is the first verse of Psalm 117 in the Vulgate (Hebrew 118).

Latin text Vidi aquam egredientem de templo, a latere dextro, alleluja: Et omnes, ad quos pervenit aqua ista, salvi facti sunt et dicent, alleluja.  (verse: Ps. 117) Confitemini Domino, quoniam bonus: quoniam in saeculum misericordia ejus.  (doxology:) Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto. German translation Ich sah Wasser hervortreten aus dem Tempel von der rechten Seite, Hallelujah: Und alle, zu denen dieses Wasser kam, wurden heil, und sie sagten: Halleluja, halleluja.

English translation I saw water flowing from the temple, on the right side, alleluia: And all to whom that water came have been saved, and they will say, alleluia.
